Shoving in Combat
Shoving is a special bonus action in combat that allows a creature to either knock another creature prone or push it away.
Basic Rules
- Action Type: Shoving is a special bonus melee attack.
- Size Restrictions: A creature can shove another creature that is no more than one size larger.
- Contest: The shove is resolved as a contest:
- The attacker makes a Strength (Athletics) check.
- The defender makes a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (defender's choice).
- Outcome:
- Success: The attacker can either knock the target prone or push it 5 feet away.
- Failure: No effect.
Extended Shove Rules (Homebrew)
For creatures with exceptional strength, they can shove a creature an additional 5 feet based on their score:
- Strength 21-25: Shove 10 feet.
- Strength 26-30: Shove 15 feet.
- And so on.
